What Is the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge 2026?
IndiaAI is an Independent Business Division under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), MeitY. The IndiaAI Application Development Initiative (IADI) runs the challenge. Co-sponsors: Ministry of MSME and Ministry of AYUSH. The AIKosh portal hosts all official documentation and submission guidelines.

Problem 1 (MSME): Virtual Negotiation Assistance for Online Dispute Resolution
AI-enabled ODR assistant for India’s 63 million MSMEs. Required capabilities: automated intake, document analysis, outcome prediction, multilingual interaction (Hindi + regional languages mandatory), and assisted settlement drafting. AI tool to automate onboarding, classification, and intelligent matching of vendors/entities for MSME governance. Must integrate with Udyam, GeM, and other MSME digital systems. Teams applying as individuals must formally register as Company or Startup before Stage 2 participation. DPIIT startup recognition: 4–6 weeks. MCA company registration: 7–15 working days. Plan timelines accordingly. Foreign-funded startups with majority overseas ownership are ineligible regardless of India incorporation.
What Winning Submissions Look Like
- Technical merit: Quantify everything. “94.3% accuracy on 10,000 dispute records” beats “high accuracy.” Include benchmark performance metrics on representative test data.
- Deployment readiness (most differentiating): Live users in production, not just dev/testing. Document deployments with active user counts and uptime records. Evidence: names of existing clients, production scale metrics.
- Scalability and interoperability: API documentation for government system integration. Existing integrations with government or enterprise systems strengthen this significantly.
- DPDP compliance: Data minimisation, consent management, audit logging, right-to-erasure — documented as current architecture features, not roadmap items. Missing = disqualified.
- Socioeconomic impact: Quantify beneficiary population, efficiency gain, cost reduction. Defensible numbers, not aspirational claims.
